If ever there was a day to crawl right back into bed and throw the covers over my head, today would be it. Not because it is a Monday. Not because it has rained nonstop today. Not because I still need to finish my laundry and clean my office area. Not because last weekend was the last of the beautiful fall colors and now winter is here laughing her witchy face off at my attempts to fight dry skin (ALREADY!). Hmmph!!!
While all of those are reasons enough together to hide under a pillow or two, the real reason is that today is the first meeting of a big field trip for my oldest and I’m simply not ready for it. If I’m really honest… I don’t want him to go. I know it would break his heart to tell him he can’t go with the rest of Safety Patrol team. However, traveling from Tennessee to DC is a long way from home and that distance alone is enough to scare the socks off of this momma.
So tell me. What did you do to get through your child’s first away field trip that eased your anxiety? Because short of volunteering and making him stay with me the whole time, I don’t know how I’m going to be able to breath until he returns.
