The past 3 years I have felt that there is more that I want to do for brides and grooms on their wedding day. In the back of my mind it was a video highlight of their day, so if I had time and the resources, I would get small clips of video throughout the day. Pairing those videos with the photography of the day just seemed like a perfect fit because the styles matched and I’m already there getting those must have shots.
It is a major transition to be able to offer video for brides and grooms from just photography because the mindset feels so different. Here’s where fear enters in and the reason it has taken me 3 years of struggling with accepting the challenge. To also have short glimpses of the feelings and emotions of one of the biggest days of their lives is something that I know if I could go back to my wedding day I would want one, too!!!
Fear #1 :: The Learning Curve
Learning how to use my camera to create video pieces I want AND the software to edit those clips. HUGE learning curve. However, in true Jenn Brown fashion, I am jumping in feet first and creating. Sometimes it’s frustrating and other times I’m so excited I can’t even see straight.
Fear #2 :: Would anyone actually want the video?
If they have a professional photographer on their wedding day, would they even care to have a video highlight?? The last wedding that I had some video clips made throughout the day was at Bailey and Anthony’s Great Smoky Mountain Wedding. She had opted for full day coverage, so I knew that there would be plenty of time for short setups throughout the day. I decided it was the PERFECT opportunity to try it and see what I could do with the video when wedding season slowed down. As I was going through bits and pieces of their day piecing the moments together, tears would swell in my eyes as I imagined what it would be like for them to see clips of each other getting ready… The parts of the day that they didn’t get to spend together and probably wondered what the other was doing. Anthony wasn’t there to watch Bailey’s mom and dad help her put on her wedding dress. Bailey wasn’t there to see Anthony helping his dad get ready. I knew I had something special for them both.
Here is Bailey and Anthony’s Wedding Short Film!
Isn’t Almost Heaven Resort and Weddings gorgeous??
